How to install Android SMS Gateway
This guide gives you the steps to do an installation of Ozeki's Android SMS Gateway. The whole procedure will take just about 2 minutes. The document is organized into 4 simple steps. The installation process does not need any specific knowledge since it is just a straightforward 'next-next' installation. So, let's get started!
Step 1 - Download Ozeki SMS Gateway APK
The first step is to open the android-sms-gateway.com page in your browser as the Figure 1 shows.
In the main page of the android-sms-gateway.com Select The Download menu as you can see in the Figure 2.
The latest release of Ozeki SMS Gateway can be downloaded from the Ozeki 10 SMS Gateway download page. To download the installer in compressed format, you need to click on the OzekiSMSGateway_x_x_xx.apk link as Figure 3 shows below. We recommend you to always download the latest version. This version always contains all the currently available features and improvements.
Step 2 - Install Ozeki SMS Gateway APK
When the download finished, you have to open the apk file to be able to run the installer of the software. For that, tap on teh Open at the bottom of the page (Figure 4).
After it in the new page select the Install option to start the installation process just like in Figure 5.
Step 3 - Start Ozeki SMS Gateway appliaction
After the installation process is finished Select the Open option as you can see in the Figure 6. Or browse the Ozeki application from your phone's application list and open it.
After the first start you need to allow the appliaction's permissons as the Figure 7 shows.
Step 4 - Open Ozeki SMS Gateway user interface
When the appliaction is started you can see the ip address and port where you can find the Ozeki SMS Gateway User interface. Below it you can find the Username and password for the firs login as you can see in the Figure 8.
Finally if you open the user interface in the browser you will see the Ozeki SMS Gateway login page as the Figure 9 shows.
Step 5 - Send test SMS message
You need to login to the SMS gateway using a web browser as administrator. For configuration we recommend to login using the administrator account. The administrator account username is "admin", and you can find the password in the applications starter page.
Then select the sms connection from which you want to send the sms on the Ozeki 10 SMS Gateway application management console.
To send a test SMS message, you need to open the Test tab, and you need to enter the phone number and message text. It is recommended to provide the phone number in international format. This means the phone number should start with a plus sign followed by a country code. If your local phone number starts with a 0, it is likely that you will need to drop the 0 prefix. For example if your UK phone number 07958663698, you would send the test SMS to +447958663698.
How to send a test SMPP message:- Navigate to the SMPP connection's details page
- Select the Test tab
- Enter the recipient phone number
- Make sure the phone number is in international format
- Enter the message text
- Make sure the message text is less than 160 characters
- Click on the Send button
You might ask why should the message text be less than 160 characters. This is because GSM system was designed to send 160 character long text messages. If a message is longer, it will be split into multiple message segments, and will be delivered in more than one SMS message.
Finally you can see if the message is sent successfully.
